Idioms

Understanding idioms should be easy as pie.  However, they are often quite confusing .  Which idioms do you use ? Have you ever heard anyone in your family use idioms when speaking?  Do you come across idioms while you are reading? How are you able to decipher the figurative meaning?

  1. I love the Amelia Bedelia books. They are funny because they have a lot of idioms in them. An idiom I like is "A piece of cake" and "As easy as pie." Idioms are weird and fun. My name is Lydeyia and I like idioms. What's your favorite idiom?

  2. When I take my time my mom would say that I was slow a molasses. I thought about her phrase and knew that I was being slow so I knew what she meant. Sometimes I,myself, use idioms. I think idioms are very useful to make a better point. Idioms make a better poimt than the everyday phrases we use.

  3. When my brother told me to hit the road, I thought I was really suppose to go and hit the road. Then I realized it meant I had to get going. He was telling me to hurry up. I was able to use clues around what he was saying. Then I knew I had to hurry up so we could play.
